I've installed your plugin but it won't translate the tags. All I see in the post is the actual [tags] [/tags] markup. It doesn't convert to the actual Technorati tags. Can you help? I don't have any other technorati plugins installed, so can't figure out why it doesn't work. Sad

Is the plugin activated?

Are you using version 2.0 of the plugin? Previous versions use <tags> instead of [tags]

I hate to be thick too, but I am having the same problem. WP version2.0 SimpleTags version 2.0. It is activated, but when I enter the [tags]...[/tags] at the bottom of a post in the wysiwyg editor I get the [tags], etc in the actual post. Is there some condition that would cause this?

The blog is at: http://kitchengardenfoods.com but I removed the [tags] stuff until I can get it working. Perhaps it's the template?

Thanks

Looks like you're doing everything right. Do you have any other plugins enabled?

Yeah, lots of plug-ins enabled, but none for technorati.
Here's a list of activated ones:
FAAlbum
Weather Icon
Feed Copyrighter
Exec-PHP
Flashifier
FlickrRSS
Kilmil Flash Embed
Live Calendar
Photopress
Subscribe Me
Simple Tags--of course, duh
Stat Counter for WP
WP Flickr Post Bar
Time SInce
Weather
Wordpress DB Backup
Google Sitemas
WP ShortStats

Any of these a known conflict?

OK, there might be a conflict with one of these plugins, although I don't see any reasons why this would happen if your posts display [tags] [/tags] when SimpleTags is enabled (I could see a conflict if these were missing from the final page).

I will check the plugins you listed and let you know if I find anything.

I just bumped into your links page where you're testing SimpleTags while removing other plugins. Please let me know your findings. Thanks!

Just found it!
I slowly began removing the plug-ins I wasn't relying on too heavily, or had just accumulated. One by one I tested until I came up with the one. . . .

It appears the Kimili Flash Embed plug-in (which never worked well for me anyway) was the culprit.
The test post is working, except now I've added [tag]tags[/tag] in the first sentance and that in-line feature doesn't appear to be working. Oh well. That's not too important, but the bottom of the post tag think is very cool!

Thanks. And I hope this helps.

PostPosted: Fri Jan 27, 2006 5:46 pm    Post subject: square vs angular brackets and WP output Reply with quote

Hi,

When I use the "wp-email201" plugin, the [tag] and [/tag] show
up in the output email.

When I use the "wp-print201" plugin, the [tag] and [/tag] show
up in the page that is output for printing.

Also, when I use the "wp2pdf" script, the [tag] and [/tag] show
up in the page that is output as pdf.

So, the questions I have are:

Are the square brackets serving some special purpose or are they
just cosmetic to make it look like BBCode or something?

Are there any technical reasons why I shouldn't change everything
back to angular brackets in the simpletags code?

Or should I use a snippet of code in the effected plugins to strip
out the tags? It looks like that option leads to one "gotcha" after
another however: http://ca3.php.net/strip_tags

Just switch back to SimpleTags 1.2. Square brackets have replaced angular ones in 2.0 in order to make them compatible with the WYSIWYG editor which is turned on by default in WP2.

It works great. Everything is now seemless.

Thank you for the great plugin and the excellent support.
Good example for others to emulate.

Note to other webmasters:
This is how a forum should be run and how a blog should
be used re: responses to posts in a timely manner.

Thanks Again!

Hi guys

wp-print.php is now working, give it a go at http://dev.wp-plugins.org/file/wp-print/trunk/print.php

For email.php, I dun think I will have this enabled because, some tags may just populat the email content. But if you really need it,

Open up functions-wp-email.php,
Find
Code:
$content = wpautop($content);

Add below it:
Code:
$content = apply_filters('the_content', $content);

Cheers
