Hi Ivan,

A very useful tool! A few of our users have saved huge amounts of e-mail and disks are running full -Outlook 2000 crashes when trying to save the e-mail to EML-files (select messages - CTRL+C - open folder in explorer - CTRL+V) because of the size...

IMAPSize does is wonderful and also allows for much easier attachment stripping. We're happy with the extra Gbs gained with this

A suggestion might be to export a folder with all it's subfolders, as one has to do each folder by hand now -and there are many subfolders.
I don't know if that's technically possible or maybe it is already but I'm doing something wrong

I'm not sure what you mean by "export", but the backup/restore functionality in 0.3.0 will allow you to export messages from the IMAP server to your drive (as eml files in a folder hierarchy), and also export messages from your local drive to an IMAP server (restore). In both cases you can choose multiple folders.

Please note that 0.3.0 is in beta. There have been a few minor (but still annoying) issues reported so far and I will be releasing a stable version within a week or two.

I think the thing is, right now you seem to have to mark exactly which folders will be backup up. If the user adds some new folders, and say you you are using IMAPSize for scheduled period backups, you might miss some new folders.

So a feature to just backup all folders in an account would be useful. Unless it's already there and I missed it.

You're right, that's missing. I'll add an option to backup all folders without specifying them so that new ones can get picked up. Nice idea, thanks!

Yes, I've found it in the menu Account! Previously I would load the folder structure and right click to call the menu and choose Download.

I've found the backup tool, that works much easier! However, it would also be very nice if there was a date select option.
Now we try to export the mail of the 'heavy' users that has reached a certain age -although more of a problem on the user side than the software as some users seem to dump everything in a few folders.

Maybe another suggestion, but I don't know if that is possible.

All exported files are given the date on which they are archived, I assume this is to have a check on which file is newer. It could also be a limitation of Windows, though, although the copy-past method in OL2003 keeps the date on which the original mail was sent or recieved. (this original after backing up is then removed from the server to save disk space -some people tend to keep everything and I'm one of them... )

However, when tracking back through e-mails it's very hard to find that specific file in a several Gb-sized folder. Windows search doesn't look in the message headers, only in file name or message body.

When backing up, can the file creation date be the same as the date in the header? Or can that possibly be added in the filename? It would make searching so much easier!
If this annoys other people maybe optional?

I know the program is free and I hope I don't sound like whiner, but I like it a lot so far, but this would make it even better!

I agree with you, it would be a useful feature. And it should be fairly straightforward to add the message header date to the filename, without any impact on the performance...
